Accessories For R190
ACeS/Inmarsat Coverage
The ACeS R190 is the world's smallest pocket size satellite phone, weighing
just over 200 grams. Its dual mode function is designed specifically to support the
ASIA Cellular Satellite (ACeS) service, as well as roam on GSM 900 mode networks
globally.Whenever the R190 is out of cellular range, it will automatically switch to the
satellite mode to send or receive calls. Once the phone is in GSM coverage areas, it
switches back to GSM 900 mode.The R190 has been developed for all users who
travel, work or live in mountains, oceans, forests or even in rural .
The phone is enabled by GMSS (Geostationary Mobile Satellite Standard),the satellite
technology derived from the GSM standard. In addition, the ACeS services operates
on the Garuda 1 high-frequency satellite, covering over 11 million square miles in the
Asia Pacific region.
ACeS recent collaboration with global satellite operator INMARSAT takes ACeS subscribers farther with a wider coverage that is now reaching the whole of Asia, Middle East, Africa plus the Persian Gulf, and the Indian Ocean.
Starting August 2007, existing and new SMART ACeS subscribers may enjoy improved service in lands and major sea lanes within the present coverage area (the Garuda Satellite Asia-Pacific footprint) and the new coverage area under the INMARSAT F1 I-4 Satellite.
This is only the first phase in the series of network expansion being planned by SMART ACeS to provide fast, simple, affordable and reliable connection to people who roam the widest oceans or trek the most remote lands of the planet.
