True Mirror featured at the Philoctetes Center
In early May, 2008, at the Philoctetes Center, the True Mirror was part of an art exhibit and roundtable discussion:
Self Reflection and the True Mirror - What does the gaze into the mirror reveal about the artist?
For those of us who don't record our impressions with brush and paint, what does our relationship
to the mirror reveal, how does it impact our imaginative process, and how does it influence our
self-conception? The exhibition Self Reflection: The True Mirror illuminates the genesis of artistic identity.
The Philoctetes Centeris an organization devoted to the "Multidiciplinary Study of Imagination".
The True Mirror was recently at the Whitney Biennial!
As part of a stealth exhibit created by DexterSinister.org, the
True Mirror is appearing at the Whitney Biennial 2008. In the 2nd floor bathrooms at the Whitney,
and also the bathrooms at the Armory, True Mirrors are up and confounding people with questions - "something is
different here and I can not put my finger on it", and "is this Art? (see the article on the Biennial by Mario Naves at the New York Observer). Without any descriptions, the True Mirror supports the effort by DexterSinister to create an alternative perception of the Biennial, with daily press releases on the various other ways to perceive this famous art show. The Biennial runs through til June 1 (march 23 at the Armory).

2008: THE EFFECTS OF HAIR PARTS ON THE 2008 PRESIDENTIAL RACE
The Hair Part Theory reveals new insights to the 2008 Presidential candidates, and can help explain voter choices in this chaotic election season. Interestingly, we continue to find new references to the way that mirrors affect us, but we were
really surprised when the following passage from War and Peace jumped out at us - it really highlights
the the essence of why the True Mirror is so important:

...Why cannot i now, as three months ago, draw fresh moral strength from your look, so gentle, calm,
and penetrating, a look I loved so well and seem to see before me as I write?"
Having read this far, Princess Mary sighed and glanced into the mirror
which stood on her right. It reflected a weak, ungraceful figure and
thin face. Her eyes, always sad, now looked with particular hopelessness at her reflection in the
glass. "She flatters me," thought the princess, turning away and continuing to read. But Julie did not
flatter her friend; the princess' eyes -- large, deep and luminous (it seemed as if at times there
radiated from them shafts of warm light) -- were so beautiful that very often in spite of the plainness
of her face they gave her her an attraction more powerful than that of beauty. But the princess never saw the
beautiful expression of her own eyes -- the look they had when she was not thinking of herself.
As with everyone, her face assumed a forced unnatural expression as soon as she looked in a glass.
