Service after the sale. This one's important: with the exception of
damage to carrying cases, no matter what kind of damage happens, we'll
fix it, absolutely for free, for two years. Have a look at our guarantee
printed below! Our repair shop is the best in the country! Anything that
we have used has been rebuilt so that it plays like a new one!
Good selection and short waiting times. Why order a musical instrument
that won't be delivered for months and months? We have almost everything
now, ready to ship to you!
Decades of ethical and reputable service. Since 1953 we've sold, repaired
and restored musical instruments. You should see our "happy customer file"!
So the next time you're considering a musical instrument of quality,
give us a call. We offer advice on what's best for you, information on
restoration and repair and fast delivery times on hard-to-get items. If
you buy something, you'll discover our prices to be the lowest, our selection
superb and our service-after-the-sale to be the best in America.
ALL NEW AND USED INSTRUMENTS sold by us come with our 24-month
service warranty, which is in addition to factory guarantees. For two full
years, we will repair or replace (whichever in our estimation is the more
advisable) any pads, corks, springs or other parts required, at no charge
to the customer. In the event of cracked or damaged wood sections, we will
repair at no cost to the customer or replace the section and charge the
customer only for our costs (wholesale) for parts. Often, these are supplied
to us at no charge. The customer is responsible for shipping charges. Cases,
lacquer finishes and plating are, unfortunately, not covered by warranties.
Wichita Band's service warranty does cover dents and dings to your brass
instrument. Wichita Band Instrument Co. maintains a repair department
capable of restoration work of the highest quality. Even though repairs are
essentially "free" for the first two years, after that period has expired,
we remain at your service to maintain and repair your musical instrument
forever. It's our "service after the sale" promise and has been since 1953!
In the event that a customer requires service under factory guarantees or
Wichita Band's service warranty, the item must be returned to us and not
directly to the manufacturer.
Anything we sell can be sent to you for a short approval period (5 days) without
any obligation. The customer is responsible for shipping and insurance
and must pre-pay back to us any freight charges on returned equipment.
UPS or registered mail are the preferred shippers. Instruments are sent
in a sturdy carton, prepaid by us and insured. If the cost of the instrument
is over $2000, we do require a 50% deposit which is completely refundable
should you decide to not keep it. Some fragile or consignment instruments
require a 100% refundable deposit, at our discretion.

Although we’re happy to send any standard musical instrument that we normally carry in our inventory, we want to tell you of our company policy concerning these transactions.
Instruments are sent “on approval for five days”. There is some flexibility here, but once the item has been received, you must decide within five days if you’re going to keep it or return it to us. You may be asked to supply us with UPS tracking numbers so we can monitor exactly when it was shipped back to our shop in Wichita.
If the item is not returned within the specified time-period, it will be considered sold and will be your property.
A returned instrument must be sent back to us in the box in which it was shipped.
A returned instrument must be returned to us via the same carrier by which you received the item. If we shipped it by UPS, you must return the item, fully insured, via UPS.
We may require partial or full security payments on certain items sent “on approval”. In the event the item is not purchased, the deposit will be refunded via company check or other means, three weeks after the item is returned to us.
Damage sustained by any item in transit from us to the customer remains the responsibility of the seller.
Damage sustained by or loss of any item in transit to us or while in the possession of the customer is the responsibility of the person to whom the item is sent.
We may decline sending certain items “on approval” that are in limited supply or which might be inappropriate for use of a particular musician. We ask your understanding in these cases and request you consult with our sales department before shipping an item which might not satisfy your ultimate needs and wants.
A SATISFIED CUSTOMER IS THE BEST ADVERTISEMENT, and we've got
thousands and thousands of them!
Our shop is located in Wichita, Kansas - a pleasant city in the middle
of the USA. Although most of our customers ask us to ship by UPS, many
prefer to visit our shop. Wichita's only a couple of hours by air from
anywhere in America. Flying to visit us? We'll even meet the plane! At
the side are our two separate stores, E. M. Shorts Guitars and the Wichita
Violin Shop.
