A comprehensive reference to the 1970s Topper
Toys' 6 1/2" fashion doll superstar, plus many of her friends, companions and rivals.
We wrote the now out of print first ever Dawn doll
identification and price guide in 1995. This new book includes all
of the Dawn information in the first edition including all of the great discoveries we have made over
the last 6 years and more clone items. 108 pages (28 more than the first
edition) printed on archival paper. There
are more and larger full color photos of Dawn and her world than the
first edition. Includes a fold out collector checklist with stock numbers, page reference and pricing for easy
use at shows. The new edition is not signed and numbered like the
first so please note with your payment if you would like the book signed.
Chapter one introduces the members of Dawn's
family, chapter two details Dawn's extensive wardrobe, chapter three shows
the many accessories and play sets that make up Dawn's world including
items from Europe, Canada and Japan, chapter four outlines some of
the many similar dolls that were produced in response to Dawn’s success:
Little Miss Dollikin/Triki Miki (7 different boxed dolls shown and 16
outfits plus reissue dolls), Dizzy Girl, Cindy Joy, Premiere, Petite,
Remco Jeannie, Diana, Tiny Teen, Rock Flowers, Swingin' Scene, Fashion
World, and more (276 different packaged items are shown) and chapter five celebrates Dawn's European relative Pippa.
Appendixes show the unnamed stock outfits variations (115 different
variations shown), head and body mold variations (compares Dawn to Pippa,
Remco Jeannie, Pico, Little Miss Dollikin and others), Penny Brite, Go-Go's,
Topper store displays and the 1990's JPI Dawn
size doll Starr (104 Starr items are pictured). Love, Leggy and the Fashion Flatsys were covered in
the first book but they are not part of this edition.
We
are planning another comprehensive book about more 1970's fashion dolls
(Love, Cher, Mary Quant Daisy, Darci, Tuesday Taylor, Dusty, Blythe, Leggy,
and more)
for 2006. I am especially looking for information on
international 1970s fashion Dolls like Sport Girl Denny, Hitomi, Disco
Girls, Marry Fransoir, Pico, Yoko and many others. If you have any promotional material for
these dolls please email us. Be sure to check out our want list to
help make this next book as complete as possible.
